a last minute dash to the côte d'azur

{Toulon & the Mediterranean}
I'm blogging about my last minute dash to the Côte d'Azur from the Côte d'Azur, but I'm not talking about this one, I'm talking about a trip a couple of weeks ago. And then maybe I'll tell you about this one, a couple of weeks from now (I seem to be running about two-three weeks behind at life at the moment...**just keep swimming**).

April in The LPV was a wet and miserable one so when The London's phoned on a Saturday morning and asked if we wanted to head south for some sunnier weather, it was hard to say no.

Bombing down the A51, we were trying to outrun the rain. The further south we got, the less rain clouds there were, and as we arrived, there wasn't a single drop left in the sky.... perfect for our Sunday barbecue plans, but first The Husband got to hangout with Mrs. London and I and see how we like to spend a Saturday evening when it's just us girls (Mr. London was working late in Grenoble and wouldn't arrive home until the wee hours).

That means a bucket of KFC and some Rosé (we're very classy) while we dish about EastEnders and the Real Housewives and try to find the weirdest thing to watch on television (this particular Saturday night included a bizarre docu-show called 'Monsters Inside Me' and Rocky IV). It's how we roll.

The next day The Husband got to shake off the girliness of the night before by cooking meat on a fire while Mrs. London and I continued doing what we do best...

(That bottle of Rosé there is from Cassis and oh my heavens it's delightful.)

Fifty enjoyed his dash down south as well. He likes cruising around town with Mr. London. Look at him up there, thinking he's too cool for school. But most of the time, he's with his cousin Napoleon (Fifty + Napoleon, The Husband + Mr. London, Mrs. London + me... everybody's happy).

{tuckered out}

Do you see that white furball sleeping next to Fifty? That's Napoleon (aka Naps, aka NaPoPo). Napoleon loves his cousin Fifty, but not as much as he loves to bully him. Notice how Fifty is sleeping on a bed that's too small for him... well that's because Naps had stolen his (he does that a lot) and because it was 10PM (Fifty's bedtime) Fifty was left with no choice but to curl up on Napoleon's bed to go to sleep. But then Naps, irritated that Fifty was no longer paying attention to him, picked up Fifty's bed with his mouth and thrashed it about a bit, only to discover that Fifty still wasn't paying him any mind. Eventually he gave up and did the most adorable thing I've ever seen... he got the bed in his mouth again, and dragged it back across the floor, dropped it next to Fifty, cuddled down and went to sleep next to his buddy... AWWWW...

  1. Sounds like you had a good day. Keep well Diane

  2. Blue ocean. Blue sky. I miss the Mediterranean. Living in the western half of the US, the ocean (Pacific) was always cold. But now that I've met the Mediterranean and have made several trips, it's starting to really grow on me. Boo to the rain!

  3. Hee hee, bet G was happy when Mr London came home again! Loving the doggie antics :o)

  4. That sounds perfect to me. You are a Housewives fan? Oh my daughter! We must talk.

    The view over the shoulders on the deck is stunning.

  5. Aww, Fifty and Napoleon are the cutest. :)
    Sounds like a fun trip! Can't wait to hear about the next one! :)

  6. Another fun adventure... sprinkled with tasty rosé wine... sun... great friends... What more could you want?

    As for the feisty little white pooch with a superiority complex, what do you expect from a dog named: "Napoleon?" :-)

  7. KFC + Rose = fantastic

    And Napolean - what a cutie! I used to have a similar pup. He and Fifty seem to get along swell!

  8. The picture of fifty and Napoleon is probably one of the cutest things I've seen. I love that Napoleon kicked fifty off his bed! Poor fifty. At least he looks comfy on the small doggy bed!

  9. Sweet post, sounds like you had a great time. The picture of Napoleon and Fifty is so cute! Have a great day.

  10. Napoleon carries his name very well!! The art of invading!!! Fifty is SO sweet!!!

  11. That bottle looks especially delightful against the pool water. love it!

  15. Hello. I'm Nikolai.

    I would like to publish a guest post (with one link) on your great blog - Could you please give me the price for the placement of it?

    Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

    Have a nice day.

  16. Hooray for escaping the rain!!! More sunshine ALWAYS! It's so nice having an evening girl-style! The random, entertaining, and ever so fabulous hours spent with some of my girls are my favorite! Looks like a fabulous getaway. Xoxo

  17. It looks like you had a wonderful time. I need to visit the Côte d'Azur some day!
    And the story of Napoleon first trying to annoy Fifty but then falling asleep right next to him really made me smile. So cute.

  18. Can you please take me with me next time? I am sure I too will get along with you two (Mrs London)!
