Mr. London: "But I've never had a Thanksgiving"
Me: "That's because you're English"
Mr. London: "But I want one"
Well, since Mr. London lost to Clermont (insert evil laugh here) I thought that I should take pity on the poor lad and give him his first American Thanksgiving (only in France of course), but since he has extra training now due to that Clermont loss (again, evil laugh, actually, make this one maniacal) I'm bringing Thanksgiving to Mr. & Mrs. London and we'll be celebrating the holiday in Toulon this year.
So tomorrow while you Americans are shopping your little hearts out on Black Friday, I'll be baking pies and then hitting the road (mini apples pies and a coconut custard pie to be precise). Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Saturday and I'm lucky enough to be spending it with family. I'm feeling mighty thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope all of you are feeling thankful too.
I hope all of you are feeling thankful too.

Wow, what an awesome photo! And from *the* Thanksgiving tribe, it must be a very special holiday for you!
ReplyDeleteSara Louise, I bought two boxes of Stove Top and one can of pumpkin pie filling (for pumpkin martinis) here for 17 euros. OUTRAGEOUS!!! Poor planning on my part!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Happy Thanksgiving to you!!! I hope Mr. London appreciates this cultural experience.
Very thankful, indeed. Have a great time! Hope Fifty is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOh honey - I don't dare leave my house on Black Friday (insert boycott here & thankful to be able to do so). So I'll be sitting here drinking my little heart out. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
ReplyDeleteNo pumpkin pie?? I'll be doing Thanksgiving on Friday too. I love getting to share the holdiay with new people.
ReplyDeleteConfession: I don't like pumpkin. Not in a pie, not in a latte, not ever.
DeleteHappy thanksgiving from Paris! Enjoy! We celebrated with beaujolais nouveau and foie gras :)
ReplyDeleteI think that "gobble gobble" is synonymous with "bisou bisou" today. happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!Aqui não comemoramos o dia de ação de graça. Mas seria muito bom dividir o pão com os amigos.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.
Drive safe and have a great time! x x
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours! xox
ReplyDeleteIts not about where or when. Its about with whom. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Sara! I hope you have a wonderful belated celebration and that Mr. London enjoys his first Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving too with your friends! This is our 3rd year celebrating "turkey day" here in Turkey with other expats and our Turkish friends. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving... who's cooking the Turkey??
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteA very happy thanksgiving to you lovely lady!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to everyone in Le Petit Village!
ReplyDeleteHope you all have a fab time! On the flip side, I have an American friend that asks me every single year if we do both the 4th of July and Thanksgiving (and one very confusing year, St Patrick's day). Every year I try and think of a new and inventive reason for why we don't ;o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteYour Black Friday sounds way better than the norm. I'm afraid of Black Friday and people getting trampled to death.
ReplyDeleteThere's a definite family resemblance.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely time tomorrow.
Pumpkin is edible in soup form only imo. Squash, on the other hand, has multiple yummy states.
I missed the whole thing.. :-( I had to work of course.. and feel so crappy I just blew the whole thing off... now, I feel horrible... what kind of an American am I?
ReplyDeletePS Just added you to my links page! Thanks so much for having me on yours :)

Happy Thanksgiving! I am also celebrating on Saturday {today!} and I am sharing my pumpkin pie with a non-American. Are we soul sisters or something?
ReplyDeleteHope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, Sara!! And black friday is only fun on the internet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a photo! Who can top that?! Amazing- thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving! I've yet to do it myself (cooking, I mean)- but maybe I'll muster up the courage to 'wing it' next year! A few family members on my French side have started to show some curiosity after tasting my corn bread (which took many trials to get right! Nothing like making a whole Thanksgiving feast!); so I suppose I may have to bite the bullet. 2 years w/out Thanksgiving; I'm starting to really crave it comme fou !
Hope you had a great time!
This is cute. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great weekend!

You're so sweet - with or without the maniacal laughs. Your pies also sound delicious - I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving! xox
ReplyDeleteI hope it was an amazing Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteGobble gobble, bisou bisou! I love the photo of your gg-grandfather too! Happy Turkey Day, Sara Lou!
ReplyDeleteI remember making Thanksgiving in France when I was a student in Montpellier! We went out to Carre Four (which was quite the production!) and bought all our supplies, including two turkey breasts, which are MASSIVE.
ReplyDeleteWe made all the fixin's, including a pumpkin pie that was quickly demolished. I remember most making mashed potatoes American style (to which our French host was appalled that we didn't cook them until they were soup) and that he didn't understand how big the breasts were and that they would take forever to cook. Let's just say it was turkey for dessert!
Happy Turkey Day!!! That is so funny that Mr. London wants to celebrate Thanksgiving! I have heard that from many bloggers and international friends. It is a wonderful holiday of coming together and noticing life. And great food! I wanted to thank you for you comment on my guest post on Vanisha's blog. Why you started blogging is such an exciting reason! Go you girl!
