Mr. London: "But I've never had a Thanksgiving"
Me: "That's because you're English"
Mr. London: "But I want one"
Well, since Mr. London lost to Clermont (insert evil laugh here) I thought that I should take pity on the poor lad and give him his first American Thanksgiving (only in France of course), but since he has extra training now due to that Clermont loss (again, evil laugh, actually, make this one maniacal) I'm bringing Thanksgiving to Mr. & Mrs. London and we'll be celebrating the holiday in Toulon this year.
So tomorrow while you Americans are shopping your little hearts out on Black Friday, I'll be baking pies and then hitting the road (mini apples pies and a coconut custard pie to be precise). Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Saturday and I'm lucky enough to be spending it with family. I'm feeling mighty thankful.

Pumpkin is edible in soup form only imo. Squash, on the other hand, has multiple yummy states.

ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving! I've yet to do it myself (cooking, I mean)- but maybe I'll muster up the courage to 'wing it' next year! A few family members on my French side have started to show some curiosity after tasting my corn bread (which took many trials to get right! Nothing like making a whole Thanksgiving feast!); so I suppose I may have to bite the bullet. 2 years w/out Thanksgiving; I'm starting to really crave it comme fou !

ReplyDeleteI remember making Thanksgiving in France when I was a student in Montpellier! We went out to Carre Four (which was quite the production!) and bought all our supplies, including two turkey breasts, which are MASSIVE.
ReplyDeleteWe made all the fixin's, including a pumpkin pie that was quickly demolished. I remember most making mashed potatoes American style (to which our French host was appalled that we didn't cook them until they were soup) and that he didn't understand how big the breasts were and that they would take forever to cook. Let's just say it was turkey for dessert!
Happy Turkey Day!!! That is so funny that Mr. London wants to celebrate Thanksgiving! I have heard that from many bloggers and international friends.
