the cat is out of the bag

ta da!

The Husband's name is Gregory (not the French version, Grégoire) and he's a Cancer.
He likes wrestling with Fifty, eating raw meat, sipping Rosé on the beach with Mr. London, and if he had been born a girl, he would have been named, Elodie, so I like to call him that from time to time even though he really doesn't like it when I do (but I love it!).

Since we're here, and I'm outing my husband, I'll tell you some other stuff about him; he's a great babysitter, there isn't a kid in the world who doesn't love him (if you don't believe me you can ask Aidan and Kirsty and they'll tell you all about 'The Manny'). He insists on eating his cereal out of the beautiful chocolat chaud mugs that French Mommy gave us for Christmas (this drives me batty), and he  makes me 'do the frog' on a daily basis. ('The Frog' is when I jump off the last three steps of the stairs and he catches me. According to Gregory, I look like a frog when I do this, hence the name, 'the frog'.)

Why am I telling you this? I don't know. I guess I kind of feel like maybe two and a half years of referring to my husband as The Husband, has kind of been wearing on me (I did ask his permission first). And I'm making his 'coming out' be in honor of my 600 followers (OK, it's 599, but whatever... 599 people have felt compelled to click that blue box on the right and make my day and that's something worth celebrating).

So anyway, that's all I wanted to tell you today.

The Husband is named Gregory.

And now you know.

bisou

P.S. Out of curiosity, what did you think The Husband's name could have been?
P.P.S. Gregory might be a great babysitter, but check out who was watching over La Petite last year.

  3. Oh wow, I wouldn't have expected Gregory at all! Though I don't really know what I was expecting....maybe something like Thibaud?? lol

  4. I didn't think Gregory at all, something more french :) Pascal or Baptiste? Haha.

  6. That's great! I love the name Gregory..my nephew is named Gregory. I love that it's not the French version! We did that with both our daughters..in reverse..one has the French spelling (as the American name was very popular when she was born- so we were a bit different) another daughter has the American spelling of a French name...(but now that we live in France..it's confusing to the French as that name exists now with a different pronoucation!) and the third one works totally in both languages! Fun! Thanks for the reveal!

  7. I was thinking Henry or Henri!

  8. Congratulations on 600 followers and thanks for formally introducing Gregory to all of us. I think he looks like a Gregory but I would have thought he would have a more traditional French name like Jean Marc or Andre.

  9. Crap, I've been calling him Frank all this time. No wonder he never answers me.
Yes, I whole-heartedly agree that Gregory is the pied-piper when it come to the children, they all love him. Whenever LPV comes to town our 2 year old only wants to hear about 'Hegory'.
Congratulations on 600 followers! You rock!

  10. Elodie is an awesome pet name for Gregory. Btw, never would have guessed Greg. I was thinking Fracois or Gaston like on beauty and the beast, mainly because those are the most French names in my head

Gregory suits him though. Tell his Mother I approve. I'm sure she is wondering.

  11. Listen, I gave up trying to figure out who was who months ago. At times I felt like I was drunk while reading your posts. Okay, I confess, I most likely was drunk while reading your posts. But now I'm drinking coffee and it all makes perfect sense to me.
Welcome Gregory! And I'm glad you came Out! Seriously, I knew it would be sooner or later. Now remember, if you ever move to the States, you need to shorten that to Greg. I know, that's pretty awful. But seriously, I don't make up these rules. You don't want to be beat up on the playground or shoved into a locker, do you?
Okay, I'm starting to ramble now. This coffee is getting to me.
Sara's Friend, m. Which stands for "Mark", not "Marc". Although if I moved to Europe, I'd totally change that!

  12. Gregory? Really? I look at him so differently now even though I don't think I ever did try to figure out what his name was :) Well, Hello Gregory!

  13. Feeling very privileged this morning here in Massachusetts! Thanks for the info!

  14. I'd have guessed Jean. Gregory's interesting for French.

  15. I saw a comment from Aidan a while back where she referred to The Husband as "G". Right away I thought "Gerard". So I'm relieved it's Gregory. :-)

    Bon week-end!!!

  17. I'm with Honey, if I'd been his maman, I'd have gone with Henri :) so question, is his middle name French?

  18. my brother's name is Gregory...as a result, the name has never topped my favorites list. ;)

    just kidding. [or am I?]

anyway, it's exciting to "meet" your husband!

  19. I was rooting for Hobart. Just something funny about picturing the conversation in your head, "Um, can I marry a guy named Hobart?" for me.

  20. He was just The Husband, perfectly fine to me. But Gregory is ok too. Congrats on the 600!!

  21. Seems fitting that he has an 'English' name, but I like that Kirsty's kids call him Hegory :) Now, are you going to out all the other LPV characters?! I wonder if La Petite's name is as French as Florence, my British, American born, French living petite?!! Congratulations on 600 followers - wow!

  22. Well, I worked with a Belgian at my last job. He spoke beautiful French (or had a beautiful accent when he spoke English) and I loved when he couldn't remember how to say a something in English. He would get frustrated and say it in French, then raise his eyebrows and smile like "Did you get that?" So funny. His name is Philippe. So now every time I see a French man, I assume his name is Philippe. But I think Gregory fits The Husband too. Can I call him Greg just because I'm American? ;)

  23. Gregory!!!! Love it... and I just followed "officially" so you are now at 600- round of applause!!!! That is worth celebrating :) I figured it was something like Nicholas or Julian b/c when in doubt, that seems to be a pretty typical GUY French name! haha

  24. I LOVE following along with your adventures in LPV, and now I've made it official! Thanks for brightening my day!

  25. You could have had a "Name The Husband Contest".

Hmm, I would have gone with Jean-Marc or maybe Pierre.

    ReplyDelete
  26. nope, it's 601! hahaha
YAY for finally meeting the husband!
I think you should get video evidence of the frog.

  27. I love "the frog'! :)
I thought his name could be Matthieu. :)

  28. Yay for 600+
The frog move is very cute and so is your darling, handsome Gregory.

  29. Gregory was nowhere near what I was thinking. I was thinking more Jacques or Andre. Funny how you are outing everyone these days. Who's next I wonder?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was actually thinking his name Phillipe, or as Ksam wrote, Thibault (I LOVE that name..."T-Bow"..he he) but Gregory totally works too!

Nice to meet you, Gregory! It must be nice that he doesn't have an accent in his name. My bf does and I don't have a French keyboard, so I have to copy and paste it each time I write his name in an email. It feels wrong leaving it out.

    Have a nice weekend!

  31. Sebastien, nickname Seb? Guillaume? Jean-something?
Happy to hear that it's Gregory though :)

  32. I totally understand what you mean by alway referring to him as The Husband. I try to come up with different words, but honestly there is only so much we can do :) and I'm definitely going to aks mine what he would have been named should he have been a she

  37. My German husband eats raw meat too.

The dog gets so excited. He asks, 'Hey Fuzzy, do you want a raw meat sandwich too?' They are barbarians together :)

  38. I like the idea of a "husband naming contest!" It will probably be a while before I ever out my hunk-o-lovin' here, only because I've just officially "outed" the fact there's a love interest at all. Plus, I like when my blog is "all about me." Hugs to you and "the Gregory!" xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's nice to meet your husband! : ) I really hadn't thought much about his name before this, but it's certainly nice to put a name with the face.

    And Elodie is adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, lucky you! He looks like a really good partner--nice looking and a gentleman as well who loves kids. That combination is hard to beat!

    Congratulations on 600 followers!

  45. This is very exciting! I was always curious about his name and now that you mention it, he kind of looks like a Gregory. How do the French pronounce the non-French version of this name?

    ReplyDelete
  46. not blogging that much these days, so now i am catching up - and what a lot to catch up on! your husband is very handsome, sara - but more than that, he looks like a compassionate man. it makes sense that he is a cancer - very fitting that kids adore him, as that is the mothering sign (i know as i am one too :) happy birthday to him since it must have been a recent celebration!

sending hugs - and congrats on 600 followers and counting in le petit village!

  47. So much easier right? I used to call my husband "Chef" on my blog because he loves to cook. That just felt incredibly dorky after a while & it's so much more natural to refer to him by his first name.

    ReplyDelete
  48. hahaha love the outing and 'The Frog' sounds like one of the most precious couple things ever!

  49. gregory is muy attractive......which is fortunate because you are muy gorgeous and i would have hated to find out that you were one of those "mismatched couples"....in addition to learning that his name is gregory. well played blog of 599-followers.....well played.

  52. I did not expect Gregory! I think I've been calling him Bradley Cooper everytime you post his picture. "Oh look! Sara posted a picture of Bradley Cooper and Fifty." That sort of thing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love this! I have been wondering if I too should out my little family on my little blog... but I don't ever want to be able to be googled! Haha! Paranoid much? It's quite pitiful when I think about it, but I love being anonymous!

I'm happy to officially "meet" Gregory! Bonjour!

  54. I'm cheating because I've always known his name, but, I still maintain he's Bradley Coopers long lost (younger) twin.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am sorry, but whether you call him Husband or Gregory , it doesn't matter when he is that handsome.
You could call him Mabel. He is gorgeous.
I have always called my husband by his full name. Although sometimes I have been known to call him Doofus. shhhhh ~
