Get My Paint On

The summer is flying by.

It's already been a month since we've moved into our new home, and we're making progress. Slow progress, but progress.

Provence is so beautiful right now, and everyone is in such a festive holiday mood that there is always a BBQ to go to, a pool to swim in, or Mojitos at that bar to drink. Naturally, home improvements have not been the biggest priority.

But now, we're under a bit of pressure...

In 15 days, Auntie J and Uncle E arrive, and in 16 days, my Mother.
Yes, they are arriving one day apart. They are all flying from Dublin, to Marseille, but arriving one day apart. How convenient.

(In the interest of avoiding a grating phone call later... my Mother bought her ticket first. And on the bright side, The Husband and I have an excuse to stay in a swish hotel in Marseille that Friday night).

So family is arriving soon, and the clock is ticking.

(It sort of feels like Darth Vader is standing behind me doing that heavy breathing thing).

Today, I'm tackling the world's ugliest bathroom.

This is what I'm up against...

{wallpaper on left, tile on right}

{and together}

This is horrideous.

(I know that's not a word, I made it up. A hybrid of horrible and hideous. Sometimes horrideous is the only word.)

Horrideous.

I bet the same nutjob that painted the staircase in the old house had a hand in this horrideousness. (It's growing on you, isn't it?).

I'm off to get my paint on...

And then my pretty on...

 (The Cousin's wedding is tomorrow!)

P.S. Fifty has already eaten one paintbrush. He thinks they're tasty.

  6. Hard to imagine loving orange enough to put it in a bathroom....

    Good luck with your transformation. The good news is that literally anything will be better, but you will do GOOD, not just better.

  8. Horrideous; Adj from the Latin Nazighostzombium. Anything that Sara Louise finds to be a major pain in the ass. Yep, works for me!

  15. I've seen some hideous bathrooms, but never one in orange! How in the world are you going to cover that up?

    At least you have a lovely garden to look at when the orange becomes overwhelming.

    Enjoy the wedding!

  18. What others leave behind makes you wonder what they were thinking when they put it up....

  19. Yeah, that's ugly. Family visitors in your new home with your new husband. How nerve-wrackingly exciting.

  22. I can't wait to see what you do to the bathroom. Why does it have to be so ugly? Makes you wonder doesn't it. Good luck. And enjoy the wedding. I love weddings..always cry.

  23. Urgh. Ce n'est pas terrible. En fait, I think I might easily feel invited to throw up in such an affront of a bathroom. Curious on your results!

  24. That's not too bad. I rather like the tiles....they definitely have a cottagey vibe going on. So, in my humble opinion, keep the tiles and nix the wallpaper and go from there. There is nothing like company coming to make you start cleaning and freshening up your home is it? I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Don't work toooo hard and take the time for a mojito. xo Lynn
